Sunday 25th March 2007 v Portishead.

Having played the last game against top of the Table Fry Club A, to have the second place team Portishead as the next fixture pretty much sums up the Fry Club B teams season so far, tough for a young side that never seems to get the rub of the green!

With Portishead so far having lost only one game and drawn two, this was going to be another hard game for The Fry B Girls to come Dodgy Ref!away with anything on an amazingly rock hard home pitch, on a cold but bright spring day.

Portishead were on top straight from the kick off and used their skilful movement and strength to force a rather soft goal in the first 5 minutes, which put them 1-0 in front. With heads a little low it was up to Alice in goal for the Fry Club B girls to hold on until her team started to believe again. She did this brilliantly and bravely stopping shots and several times going to ground and pinching the ball from the opponents strikers feet!Portishead Keeper saves at feet

Emma and Emily Dean rose to the challenge and defended superbly from then on and the Fry Girls started to get out of their own half. What was needed now was some organisation and movement from the midfield, step up Emily Tite. "Emily T" started shouting encouragement to her players and got stuck in. Heading and tackling at every opportunity, this got Danni lose to start feeding Amy and put the Portishead Keeper under some pressure! The game then became a one end to the other affair to half time the score remaining 1-0 to Portishead.

Charlotte replaced Alice in goal for the second half and Steph replaced Emily Dean at left back.

Frys Keeper defendsPortishead started the second half as the they did the first and again the Fry Club Girls conceded an early soft goal to put the score at 2-0 to Portishead. Just as in the first half the back two, this time being Emma and Steph, worked hard and shored things up whilst Emily Tite and Sophie worked the middle to try and get Amy and Danni away and onto goal.

The Fry Club Girls were arguable the better side for the last ten minutes but again they didn't get the rub of the green and the game finished 2-0 to Portishead.

OK this weeks mentioned in dispatches are Emily Dean for a hard working solid tackling first half, Alice for a great first half in goal, Emma for a non stop top class defending display and Steph for a hard working second half at the back (not her preferred position). Well done girls!

This weeks player of the match goes to Emily Tite for a great game in the midfield hard working and much improved in her game of late very well done!
